After installing mazemaze, the first question learners ask is: "What percentage ratio should I pick? Should I mix phrases, sentences, or entire blocks?"
Calibrating difficulty is critical to prevent fatigue. Here is the recommended configuration matrix based on your goals and energy levels.
Recommended Setting Matrix
| Your Proficiency | Target Ratio (%) | Granularity Unit | Ideal Scenario |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beginner / Tired Evening | 15% – 25% | Phrase | Relaxed browsing, low mental fatigue |
| Intermediate (Default) | 30% – 40% | Sentence | Daily reading flow, optimal context balance |
| Advanced / Deep Focus | 50% – 70% | Block | Near-native immersion with quick safety net |
1. Beginners: 15% to 25% + Phrase Mode
If seeing entire foreign sentences feels intimidating, start with Phrase mode at around 20%. Short chunks and idioms appear seamlessly inside your native grammar, keeping cognitive load light.
2. Intermediates: 30% to 40% + Sentence Mode (Sweet Spot)
The default 30% Sentence mode is scientifically the most balanced. In a paragraph of three to four sentences, exactly one sentence is swapped. The rest of the paragraph provides bulletproof context.
3. Advanced: 50%+ with Quiz Mode Enabled
Turn on the Original Quiz feature in the popup. Hovering over a translated sentence presents a three-choice quiz to test your comprehension.
